Booting Windows 10 via USB flash drive into any Computer

Windows 10 is the most recent operating system from Microsoft and in August of 2015 their USB sticks for Windows 10 made available to publicly distribute all over the world especially for the users, who don't have CD/DVD ROM Drives into their Netbooks, PC. Laptops or desktops to enjoy the convenience of Windows 10. The USB stick is little bit costlier than the Disc-based Windows 10 version, but if your Computer is already running on the modern operating systems of Windows like Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 then you can freely boot Windows 10 through a USB drive without paying anything, just stick on to the article and read how to do it.

Booting Windows 10 via USB flash drive

1. Prepare your USB flash/pen drive :

For this process you need to have a pen drive with enough free space to download the latest Windows 10 files and drivers - for 32 bit systems you can use pen drive having at least 4 GB free space and for 64 bit systems use pen drive of at least 8 GB free space.

2. Check for stable Internet connection :

In process you need to download data file of size ranging from 4 GB to 8 GB, so make sure you data connection is stable, fast and sustain longer downloads.

3. Get Media Creation Software from the Official Microsoft site :

Media creation tool is freely available on their Official site, download that tool from there or use this link to download Media creation tool.

Your goal is to install Windows 10 into USB drive so after installing Media creation software, run that program and choose "Create Installation Media" for another PC and select the language and architecture(32/64) of your system.

Choosing the right edition for your computer into memory optimization and helps in preventing form hangs, select the right edition based on your currently running operating system into your computer.

Once you select the right edition, then you will be guided on creating media. Once you complete all the steps, you may choose to finish the process.

4. Connect the USB drive to your PC

Run Setup.exe file after inserting the USB drive and quickly remove the USB drive once the upgrade process starts otherwise the installation process will start from the beginning. Now follow the instructions showed at the screen to finish Windows 10 installation. Follow the steps to install operating system into your PC :

  • Insert USB drive into your PC and restart it keeping pen drive still attached to PC.
  • Press any key while booting and select booting from USB drive, if you are facing problem and your previous operating system starts then try changing the boot order.
  • Select language and other preferences and then select Windows 10.
  • Enter Purchase key if required send at your mail address after purchase confirmation otherwise skip this step.
  • Accept their Terms of Service and Select custom installation
  • Select the partition on which you want to install your Windows 10, you can format your diskette first to avoid any future memory dump or leakage issue.
  • Now follow the screen instructions and finish the installation.
